so...after a bit of a break from doing anything at all to it I'm back at it again...forks are the original ones that came with the frame...

bought the headset bottom off eBay a while back...a good while back...with the intention of adding a disc brake to my 96 PX...now going on this bitsa as is...

although this has a Piaggio stamp on it I have my doubts...

really need to get those weeds sorted...

as I pointed out further up the page: "life is easy when you have all the right tools"...

bought the tool from S.I.P. a few years back and have been trying to get the second spacer from them since then...their customer service is sh*t...

another item salvaged from Jacks written off PX...

took a good hour to get this sort of straight...

it was an absolute mess...

I had this shocker on my 96 PX before I replaced it with a Pinasco...I'd forgotten all about it...looks much better than the rusty original one...

starting to look good now...

after struggling for about an hour with the speedo cable it was time to helicoil the 5mm hole...

thread was well stripped...no thread at all for the first 4mm...

bit of compressed air to get the swarf out...

and in with the helicoil...

I have quite a number of these...M3 right up to M8...

looking good...caliper has a seized piston...waiting on a repair kit to arrive...

stand is on...in fairness the stand has been on a few months now...90% of the wiring loom is also in...and of course the forks are in situ...

still need to put the lock ring on the forks...

the engine is pretty well built up now...carb box & carb all sorted...

hub is fitted too...as is the new engine mount...

and the engine is now in place...and a big thanks to Di for all her help...

had to order a load of stuff from s.i.p. which means I'm going to be held up for a few days...

chrome rim and pretty worn out tyre on temporarily while I wait for a new tyre and rim to com from S.I.P....

new rim and tyre have arrived...had to settle for a dodgy S.I.P. rim as the were out of stock of genuine Piaggio rims...

as battered as the frame looks everything that is needed to keep you safe on two wheels is new...

chrome rim that was temporarily the rear is now the spare...I'll eventually put a new tyre on it...

rear light is finally fitted...

legshield trim and toolbox fitted...it's starting to fly together now...

for a while the thought was to use this seat...

new locks and keys all round...

indicators in...

indicator warning buzzer that packed up after about a week!!..

settled for this seat in the end...just so many to choose from...I do have the strap but no rivets at the moment...

tank came out of Jacks written off black PX...

no oil tank as the frame is a pre mix model...

first time since I started this project that it's been off the ramp...

still a bit to do but the engine started after a few kicks...forgot to turn the ignition on...doh!!..

it's back on the ramp again to get a few pictures of the work completed so far...

and as you can see this is complete now...air hose was the last thing that needed fitting...

all cables are installed and working as they should...exhaust was bought by our Jack a few years back for this actual engine...

don't know the exact year but it certainly wasn't an electric start model...electric start relay fitted in the only place I could drill a hole...

fuse holder for electric start sorted...

although the whole project has been thrown together from bits laying around most of the running gear is new...

still need to get a battery for it...

today...the 7th August 2025 I've finally got all the electrics sorted...just the brake caliper to do and it's finished...

headlight is a cheap (£20) Indian one...took three hours of f*ck*ng about to get it right...

new master cylinder...wasn't expensive...

Tuesday the 12 August 2025 and the s/h brake caliper I bought off eBay yesterday has arrived...

all fitted...new pads...system bled and everything is working as it should...

and there you have it...except for a battery and that pretty worn front tyre it's all done...

a few pictures of the completed scooter before the sun comes up over the yardarm...

it's only back on the ramp because of the lack of room in the garage...

as previously mentioned there are a few dents in the frame...

and a bit of surface rust...

but there is absolutely no rot at all...

most of the running gear is new...

took it for a run on the path at the back of the house yesterday and it rides fine...

gonna have to find a new project now...

totally finished now...new rim and tyre on the front...rim is genuine Piaggio...seat strap fitted too...

all ready to go...

electric start working as it should now a new battery has arrived...

dodgy Indian headlight shining bright...S.I.P. tyres front and rear...

ten years from original purchase and it's done...
